When Marion Kermann took the lead of French à la Carte in 2020, she brought with her not just a school director’s vision, but the passion of someone who truly lives and breathes French culture. With her warm smile and unstoppable energy, Marion has transformed FALC into more than a language school — it’s now a vibrant French experience right here on Sydney’s North Shore and Northern Beaches.

Her dream has always been simple: to create a place where anyone can feel transported to France the moment they walk in. A cup of tea in hand, a book borrowed from the French library, a lively class or cultural workshop — all woven together into a genuine French atmosphere.

That vision has grown into three thriving locations: St Ives since 2020, Mona Vale since 2021, and The French Corner in Killarney Heights since 2024. Across these hubs, people of all ages — children, teenagers, adults, and retirees — come to learn French, join workshops, or dive into one of the many local and overseas immersions.

But what truly sets French à la Carte apart is the community. Students don’t just come to improve their French — they come to laugh, connect, and share moments that feel unmistakably French. It’s not just grammar and vocabulary; it’s trivia nights, wine tastings, cultural apéros, and even overseas adventures. You come for the French, but you stay for the friends.

Marion’s passion is also personal. Her Australian husband is often the first “guinea pig” for her ideas, while her two bilingual children inspire ways to support bilingual families, in-laws, and grandparents who want to share in the French experience. For Marion, every lesson, every event, every immersion is about one thing: helping people discover the joy of living a little bit of France in their everyday lives.
