FRENCH RESOURCES

Immersing yourself in French, whether through films or literature, is a wonderful and enjoyable way to keep French in your life outside of your French classes.

Our own on-site library in our St Ives school is a great source of French books, magazines and DVDs for our students and members. Online resources are also an excellent way to conveniently access all sorts of French material.

Here is a non-exhaustive list.

  • Netflix
    The selection of French movies and TV shows on Netflix is regularly growing and is for the most part of very good quality. You'll find a list of all French-language movies & series here. We recommend:

    - Notre-Dame (TV Dramas): Inspired by true accounts of firefighters, this drama series explores the impact of the 2019 fire of Notre-Dame on a diverse group of Parisians.

    - Lupin (TV drama): Inspired by the adventures of Arsène Lupin, gentleman thief Assane Diop sets out to avenge his father for an injustice inflicted by a wealthy family.

    - Au service de la France // A Very Secret Service (TV comedy): 1960: the French intelligence service hires the 23-year-old André Merlaux. Handsome, well raised, intelligent but impressionable, Merlaux has much to learn to serve and defend the interests of France. 

    - L'Agence // The Parisian Agency (Reality TV show): A reality series about the family Kretz who sells apartments to rich customers in France and the rest of the world.

    - Marseille (TV Thriller): As Marseille's mayor (Gérard Depardieu) rallies support for a controversial casino project, his longtime protégé prepares to takes a bold step.

- Interns : In this French medical drama, a group of interns are forced to take responsibility when doctors in charge of the intern
department find themselves quarantined at home due to drastic preventative health measures in a public hospital.
