French Immersion in Bowral in April-May 2024

Join us for a French 3-day immersion in Bowral, at the exceptional Berida boutique Hotel!

Immerse yourself in French with fellow French learners and teachers from French à la Carte. The programme includes a mix of small group lessons, activities and meals, all in French. It’s the perfect opportunity to practice your French “for real”, with friends, while having fun at the same time!

Accommodation

We will stay at the historic and magnificent Berida Hotel, a fabulous place where the mystique and splendour of the 1920’s entwine with contemporary design elegance.

Originally built as a private residence in 1925, and located just moments from the main street of Bowral in the NSW Southern Highlands, the Berida Hotel is the perfect venue for a French immersion - cozy, intimate and spacious at the same time. 

You can relax by the open fire in the stunning Guest Lounge in between classes, enjoy a drink on the terrace surrounded by lush gardens, buy a locally made product from the Local Produce Store, or practice your French chatting with other participants in one of the comfy lounge areas. The hotel also features a Health Club, which boasts a 20m indoor heated pool, dry sauna, refurbished gym and tennis courts as well as a luxurious Day Spa, Sculptress at Berida.

Programme

The group will have a maximum of 25 participants and will be led by 2 FALC teachers.

Participants will be split in two groups according to their level : Intermediate & Advanced. Most French classes will be taught separately in 2 conference rooms, while meals will be taken all together.

Classes & Levels

The minimum level required to attend this immersion is Intermediate, i.e. A2.3 and above.
Participants are expected to speak French during at all times throughout the immersion. English is not allowed!

Berida Hotel has two conference rooms, so participants will be divided into two groups of students of similar level.

Each group will be taught by one FALC teacher a variety of activities and topics. The main goal is to improve comprehension and conversational French, to immerse yourself in the language and « force » yourself to use as much French as possible throughout the day. All in a pleasant atmosphere, of course!

Dinners at Bistro Sociale 

We’ll dine in the onsite restaurant, Bistro Sociale: Contemporary European Cuisine with a Twist of French Saveur.

Head Chef Nathan Jackson and his team make the most of locally-sourced fresh produce, delivering seasonal, french-inspired dishes in a relaxed atmosphere. Light and ambient with rustic yet elegant furnishings and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking leafy gardens. Bistro Sociale is perfect for intimate dinners, a relaxing weekend brunch or a gathering of friends and cocktails by the fireplace in winter or on the Terrace in Summer.

Lunch at La Franquette Crêperie

Our Tuesday lunch will be at newly opened French Crêperie La Franquette, in the centre of Bowral.
We tried it just before Christmas and absolutely LOVED their galettes and crêpes. Everything was simply amazing and we can’t wait to go again! 

Lunch includes a savoury galette, a sweet crêpe and a cider tasting.
