Dates
- 7 nights immersion in Papeete: Wednesday 24th September to Wednesday 1st October 2025
- Optional: 3 days at Moorea Island from Wednesday 1st to Saturday 4th October
French Level
All activities, classes and meals in this immersion will be conducted entirely in French. No English will be used. Therefore, a B1 / Intermediate level minimum is required.

Discover Papeete
Papeete, the vibrant capital of French Polynesia, is a tropical paradise brimming with culture and charm. Nestled on the island of Tahiti, Papeete boasts bustling markets, picturesque waterfronts, and a lively arts scene.
Explore its rich history, indulge in delicious local cuisine, and soak up the stunning natural beauty that surrounds the city. Accommodation
Hotel Le Royal Tahitien
Located on the Eastern coast, 3 kms away from downtown Papeete, the hotel restaurant Le Royal Tahitien offers a unique panoramic view of the volcanic black sand beach and a little pass where local fishermen come and go for fishing. During the day, you can admire various nautical activities such as windsurfing or paddling that will color your day.
From August to October, if you are lucky, you can watch whales swimming along the reef.
The restaurant has a typical traditional decor with a traditional Tahitian ceiling.
The chef is specialized in local and international cuisine and well known for the tropical decoration of his plates.
The hotel also offers a unique large tropical garden.
In addition, every Friday and Saturday evening, the bar and restaurant welcome local bands that will immerse you in a traditional Polynesian atmosphere. These nights are well known by local dancers and you can experience the Tahitian way of entertaining.
The hotel is the most renowned for its Polynesian ambiance of the sixties. The real way of life of French Polynesia can be found at the “Royal Tahitien”. Spirit of Tahiti runs into the veins of the hotel.

Language Classes
This immersion includes 12h of French lessons focused on conversational skills and discovery of the Tahitian culture.
The primary goal of the classes is to master the language through conversation, grammar and the discovery of the local culture..
Classes will be conducted by a local teacher and will take place in the morning.
Programme
Day 1: Wednesday 24th September – Arrival in Papeete
- Arrival in Papeete airport at around 10pm
- Transfer to our hotel Royal Tahitien
Day 2: Thursday 25th September – French class & discovery of Papeete
- French Class in the morning
- Lunch at hotel
- Private guided tour of Papeete: Walk through our traditional market where Tahitians sell fish, fruits, vegetables, and artisanal products. You will then head towards the Papeete Cathedral and the Vaima Center to enjoy its many shops. Continue the excursion by vehicle for a discovery tour of Polynesian institutions, ending with a visit to the Pearl Museum.

Day 3: Friday 26th September – Full-day Safari Tour in the Mountains
- Explore the heart of Tahiti aboard an off-road vehicle. Take in the sights of the Papenoo Valley, renowned for its rivers, and enjoy unique panoramic views of its waterfalls and tropical vegetation, dotted with giant ferns and a variety of tropical plants. It's a peaceful place where nature warmly welcomes you. Crossing several rivers in your 4WD, you'll have the opportunity to admire the cascades and mist-covered mountains of the island. Enjoy a refreshing dip before lunch break.
- Lunch will be provided at the Maroto site, in a small restaurant with a panoramic view of the valley.
- The afternoon will be dedicated to visiting sites such as Lake Vaihiria and Blue Lake, along with explanations about the local fauna and flora. Throughout this adventure, your guide will be by your side to enlighten you on the local fauna, flora, and geological features.

Day 4: Saturday 27th September – French class & Discovery of Tahiti's East Coast

- Private Excursion of the East Coast of Tahiti + Museum Normal Hall: This fascinating tour of the North East Coast of Tahiti Nui takes us to the most historically rich corner of the island and encompasses all that it has to offer. Natural sites, breathtaking coastal and volcanic scenery, view points and local encounters are just a few of this tour's spectacular features. The East Coast is often referred to as the Jurassic coast and will interest anyone who likes history and natural beauty. The dramatic volcanic coastal scenery of the East Coast is in direct contrast to the classic lagoon and reef scenery of the Western coast. Here are a few hilights: Blow Hole Bay of Matavai, Point Venus and monuments, Tiare valley and Vaimahuta waterfall, View Point of Tahara, Chinese Cemetery, Presidents Palace, Sculptor at work (based around his availability).
Dinner at Papeete, in the Roulottes (not included) : In French Polynesia, a food truck is called a “roulotte“. Delicious food, rapid service and reasonably priced menus make food trucks the favorite restaurants of the local population. Originally roulottes were mobile restaurants which catered for laborers, close to their worksite. Now they are a veritable institution and can be found throughout The Islands of Tahiti. The atmosphere is friendly and local and the prices are very reasonable. Each of the roulottes had to win its place in a competition, so you can be sure of the quality and service. As a bonus, while you eat your meal you have one of the best views in Tahiti, over the island of Moorea and Taapuna sandbank.
Day 5: Sunday 28th September – French Class & Snorkeling

- Lunch at restaurant Casabianca, in Marina Taina
- Private snorkeling tour in Tahiti Lagoon: Sail towards the Aquarium site located in the lagoon just a few minutes from the dive center. The Aquarium site is well known among divers for the clarity of its waters and its small airplane wreck, which has become home to many colourful fish. This outing is a great introduction to the richness of the fenua's lagoons.

Day 6: Monday 29th September – Full-day Boat excursion
- All day excursion to presqu'île de Tahiti on a boat "Les légendes ancestrales"
- Your journey starts by boat sailing to the remote and pristine region of Fenua Aihere, known for its untouched landscapes and rich biodiversity. Hike to the Mini Lava Tube and River Bath: Disembark for a guided hike to the mini lava tube. Explore this unique geological formation and enjoy a refreshing bath in the river, surrounded by the lush tropical forest. If weather conditions allow, venture further to Te Pari. Discover its stunning waterfalls, mysterious caves, and natural pools. This area is renowned for its dramatic scenery and secluded beauty.
- Stop at the Vaiau River for a sumptuous barbecue lunch served on board. Enjoy grilled fish and chicken, the famous poisson cru with coconut milk, and other delicious local dishes. Relish the flavors while taking in the serene river surroundings.
- After the meal, those who wish can take a leisurely stroll in the small "mape" forest, known for its ancient chestnut trees or simply relax in the tranquil environment. End your day on a picturesque white sandbank, where you can swim in the crystal-clear, shallow waters. This idyllic spot is perfect for unwinding and soakingup the natural beauty of Teahupoo.
- Conclude your adventure with a relaxing boat ride back to the Teahupoo Marina.
Day 7: Tuesday 30th September – French class & Discovery of Tahiti's West Coast

- Private Excursion of the West Coast of Tahiti + Tahiti Museum: The drive south takes us along the delightful coast road surrounded by turquoise colored lagoon waters and dramatic volcanic scenery covered in luscious vegetation, waterfalls and geographical wonders. On the roadside enjoy the sights of local fishermen selling their daily catch or tradesman selling their fruits and local produce. Highlights include Marae of Arahuruhu, Caves of Marae, Black Sandy Surf beach, Vaipahi Botanical Garden, waterfall Monoi Coconut oil factory, Vaima spring Churches and Colonial style buildings.

Day 8: Wednesday 1st October – Farewell and/or transfer to Moorea
- We'll say goodbye to our friends leaving in the morning. Those who booked the Moorea package will be takinga transfer to Quai de Papeete to embark on a ferry to Moorea Island

Day 1 - Moorea: Wednesday 1st October - Discovery of the Moorea

- 4x4 Safari Tour excursion in the afternoon:
- Explore the stunning landscapes of Moorea Island in a 4x4 vehicle. Visit Cook and Opunohu Bays, explore the interior of the volcano and its majestic caldera, and reach the breathtaking viewpoint at Belvedere. Along the way, discover ancient relics such as the 'marae' and the vast pineapple fields stretching as far as the eye can see.
- Highlights: The magnificent bays of Moorea (Cook and Opunohu), the magical mountain of Faaroa or the Tropical Garden, homemade jam tasting, Rotui factory, encounter with freshwater eels, Belvedere viewpoint, ancient 'Marae' temples, and the lush fruit plantations, including the beautiful pineapple fields of Moorea.

Day 2 - Moorea: Thursday 2nd October – Full-day Tour of the Lagoon
- This lagoon tour, designed for small groups, will allow you to explore the breathtaking landscapes and turquoise lagoon of Moorea. After being picked up from your hotel, visit Cook or Opunohu Bay and take in the stunning mountains. Sail through Moorea’s lagoon and enjoy unforgettable encounters while snorkeling with stingrays, blacktip sharks, and moray eels.
- To top it all off, take part in a cooking class on the motu, where you’ll learn to prepare the famous raw fish dish. Your Polynesian guide will ensure a fun and lively atmosphere on board. The highlight of the day will be lunch on a beautiful motu, complete with its white sandy beach.

Day 3 - Moorea: Friday 3rd October – Tiki Village
- Cultural Experience at Tiki Village
- Located on the lagoon shores of Haapiti, this reconstruction of a traditional Polynesian village awaits you with its typical pandanus thatched-roof bungalows. During this half day tour, you will be immersed within the Polynesian culture, discovering its richness through the arts, dance and food. Guided tour of the village, and participation in 2 cultural workshops at choice: introduction to traditional dance, to traditional music (ukulele or to'ere), to dyeing pareo (pareo included), to hat or basket weaving (object made included), to the Polynesian cuisine (preparing raw fish, poe and ipo).

Payment schedule
- A non-refundable deposit of $1,200 is required to secure your booking. Bookings will ONLY be confirmed upon reception of the full deposit, on a first come, first served basis.
- The final payment of the remainder is due by the 1st of June 2025.
Terms & Conditions
I Our responsibility
It is our responsibility to ensure that tour activities have been organised as stated in the program. It is also our right to alter the itinerary, if necessary, in the event of unforeseen circumstances. Any extra costs resulting from these alterations will not be our responsibility.
No responsibility will be accepted for any delays occurring during the tour. It is at our discretion to stop any person from participating in any of the activities should they not have the required level of fitness or mobility on any particular day.
II Cancellation
By the organisers: If the tour needs to be cancelled, due to member of the group cancelling and resulting numbers being below the minimum number of 12 participants, after the 8th of January, no deposit will be refunded to any participant who made the late cancellation. Other participants deposits will be refunded.
Cancellation Policy: All cancellations must be made in writing to French à la Carte
- If cancellation occurs earlier than 90 days prior departure, the deposit will be retained.
- If cancellation occurs between 90 to 60 days prior departure, 50% of the cost will be retained, unless you are able to find someone to take your spot.
- No refunds are available if cancellation occurs less than 60 days before departure, unless you are able to find someone to take your spot.
III Responsibility of participants
It is the responsibility of the participant to organise and pay for all travel documents, i.e. passports, visas, tickets, insurance, departure tax. All participants need travel insurance. The participants will be responsible for any injury, sickness, loss, or damage that might occur.
If any participant wishes to alter the itinerary in any way, all resulting costs and organisation will be his/her responsibility. It is the responsibility of the participant to be at the point of pick-up as specified and at the time specified. If this is not possible it is the participant's responsibility to rejoin the tour at his/her own expense.
IV Organization
The organization of the course, the activities on the schedule and the itinerary may be subject to change without notice due to act of God, local circumstances and weather.
We contract with a range of third parties and individuals. To the best of our knowledge, the different third parties who will assist us during the course are qualified to perform the duties they are contracted to perform. French à la Carte will not be held liable for injury, damage, loss, delay or irregularity that may occur due to the behaviour of these third parties.
